Morning Brings a New Promise

September 2nd, 2008 · 2 Comments · Fort Worth, TX

There’s a song that says that “the darkest hour is just before dawn”, but what a promise a new dawn brings.

I was looking at photos of sunrises and found these beauties and it reminded me of how good God is to us. Each new morning is full of His mercies and a promise of His care. I’ve needed both lately and morning has always been a favorite time of mine. It’s so quiet and calm.

I want to share these pretty photos I found on Flickr with you to enjoy and wish you a new day full of His mercies and hope.

Have You Watched the Olympics?

August 23rd, 2008 · 10 Comments · Fort Worth, TX, news

Nothing to do with my post...I just like it!Wow! North Texas did good in these Olympics! Our very own Nastia Lieuken is the star of North Texas right now. And deservedly so!

This has been a fun one to watch. I’ll be glad when they’re over this weekend and I can get some sleep!

(I know. The flower has nothing to do with my post…I just like it!)

Cades Cove Trip

August 8th, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

My favorite place in the whole world is Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do by sharingthem with you!

If you ever get a chance to visit the Great Smoky Mountains, be sure to visit Cades Cove. This is a beautiful place and a very easy 11 mile loop road. It’s full of history and you can see cabins the original settlers had and even a working grist mill.

It’s a very comforting, soothing place, and a place I go to when I need to get away and just, as the old timers say….”soak in the mountains”.

Are Foreclosure Numbers Accurate? Probably Not.

July 26th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Fort Worth, TX, news

There was a report on the news last night in Fort Worth about the rising numbers of foreclosure properties in the Fort Worth area.

The report cites a 39% increase in foreclosures since this time last year, but is that really the case? Rich Thomas of the MetroTex Association of Realtors says that just because a property is posted for foreclosure doesn’t mean that will happen.

Our area has had expansive growth in the last 10 years and our numbers may be artificially high because of all the growth. Lenders will post a property that MAY go into foreclosure, but a lot of time there’s a remedy for the delinquent payments or the property is sold before foreclosure.

At least the news reported that you need to call your lender AND a REALTOR before you get you get into trouble with your payments.

Sunset Winery ~ Some of the Country’s Finest Wines

July 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Fort Worth, TX

Did you know that Texas has vineyards and its wines rival the finest made anywhere else in world? Well, it’s true and we have one of the best vineyards right here in North Texas!

Sunset Winery is located in Burleson, TX and it has done very well since it opened just a few short years ago. They have tours and wine tasting daily from noon til 6:oopm, and a Happy Hour every third Friday from 7-10pm.

The Anderson’s, who own the winery, love for people to come out and see how the wine is made and just visit for a while. They have a little gift shop where you can find unusual little things like these wine corks. Only in Texas!

On occassion, they have a sit-down dinner which is reservation only. This would be a great way to celebrate a special occassion with friends or family.  Visit their website to see when these will take place. I’m going to keep my eyes open for sure!
